Communion cups
This pair of silver communion cups were originally part of a set of four presented to the parish of Walston in Lanarkshire in 1657. They were made in 1644-6 by George Robertson, a goldsmith in Edinburgh.
The cups are engraved with the arms of Christopher Baillie of Walston and of his wife Lilias Murray of Stanhope. The inscription reads: "Dedicat to the Chvrch of Walston / Anno 1657".
George Robertson was admitted to the Incorporation of Goldsmiths on 20 April 1643, having been made a burgess of Edinburgh on 5 April.
