Communion plateThis pewter communion plate was made around 1749 by William Hunter of Edinburgh. It is plain apart from the maker's mark on the base. Church communion or collection plate of pewter, marked with an expanded rose and Edinburgh on a ribbon, made by William Hunter, Edinburgh, c. 1749 Communion required cups for the wine and plates for the bread, and every church in Scotland had to equip itself with suitable vessels.
