RecordHarness mount of bronzeFrom Everley Broch, Caithness
Harness mount of bronzeThis bronze harness mount was found at Everley Broch in Caithness. It was probably used on a harness sometime between 200 BC and 200 AD. The mount has two slices in it. Although harnesses are rarely found, the mounts, fasteners, studs, and strap junctions often survive. They must have been common items wherever horses were used in transport.
