Handle (piece)This end of a handle made of bronze or brass was found at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. It is from a type of pan known as a patera. The object dates from between 80 and 180 AD. Roman pans of this sort were expensive cooking wares and were used for heating wine.
