Graffiti
Add to album

This piece of slate, now in two joining pieces, was found at St. Blane's on Bute in the Inner Hebrides. It has graffiti showing a hunting scene on one side and a running hound on the other. The sketches were made between 600 and 1000.

This side shows a collared hound bounding along.

Slate is easily etched, and ideal for use as a trial piece or for doodling. A number of pieces of slate have been found at St. Blane's on Bute, with a range of drawings.
