Model, of former Dundee Town House
Add to album

This painted wooden model shows the former Dundee Town House. The building was designed and built by William Adam between 1732 and 1734, as a market, exchange and meeting place for the town council. 'The Pillars', as it was popularly known, was finally demolished in 1932. Although the model seems to date to the 18th century, it is unlikely to have been an architect's model as the proportions are not exactly those of the Town House as built and it may originally have been made as an elaborate watch stand.

Painted wooden model of an 18th century Dundee Town House and former Town Hall, the original designed and built by William Adam between 1732 and 1734
