This is the obverse of a bronze medal, commemorating the proposed union of the Scottish and English parliaments. The medal dates from 1604. The crowns of the two countries had been united in the previous year.
The obverse has a crown and the Latin inscription 'BEATI PACIFIC' (Blessed are the peacemakers).
