This is a page from Townsend's Monthly Selection of Parisian Costumes, a fashion magazine published in London. The page, which contains various advertisements for goods, appeared in issue no 168, published in December, 1838.

Included in the list are adverts for perukes (wigs), medicinal tea, spectacles, Robinson's Patent Barley (for making barley water) and Patent Groats (for making gruel). An advert for corsets manufacturer, 'Mad. Le Plastrier', claims royal patronage.

Townsend's Monthly Selection of Parisian Costumes was in publication from 1823 until 1888. At first it was issued quarterly, but later it became a monthly publication. In 1838, the publication was priced at 1s 6d.
