From Stoneykirk, Wigtownshire
This sandstone grinding block and axehead made from Langdale tuff were found together at Stoneykirk in Wigtownshire. They were used sometime between 3800 and 2500 BC.
The grinding block is hollowed on each face. It is imperfect and cracked. The small axehead is polished smooth. It was made from imported exotic stone from Langdale in Cumbria.
