This small pot was found in a grave at Marchhouse at Muirkirk in Ayrshire. It was buried along with an awl flake and burnt pin sometime between 2000 and 1500 BC.

The pot has 18 small holes around its belly. Two incised lines encircle the rim.

Small pots, often with perforations, have been found in cremation graves. Their function is unknown, but they may have contained a strong-smelling substance.
