Wine glass

This wine glass was made in 1962 by Edinburgh Crystal Co. It was engraved by Alison Geissler.

The wine glass is made of clear glass and has a globular bowl wheel-engraved with the figure of an egret standing upon a pine branch.

In the 1960s, British glass manufacturers were slow to follow the lead of their more innovative Scandinavian contemporaries. British artists experimented little with actual glassmaking, but continued the long national tradition of engraved decoration.
