SaucerThis transfer-printed earthenware saucer was made by the Glasgow potters, J. & M.P.Bell & Company. It dates from around 1860. The pattern is called 'Triumphal Car'. The centre shows a woman in a chariot drawn by two lionesses. Two women playing musical instruments are heading the procession. This was one of Bell's most popular and enduring patterns and was made in a number of different versions. James Jamieson of Bo'ness and John Thomson of Glasgow also produced the pattern.
