Add to album

This plaster of Paris block and case mould is for a plaque of one of the Twelve Apostles. The mould dates from the 19th century and came from Belfield's Pottery in Prestonpans in East Lothian.

Belfield's Pottery was established by Charles Belfield in the mid-1830s. By the mid-19th century the pottery was employing between 20 and 40 people. The business remained a family concern and continued until the mid-20th century. Belfield's is best known for high quality earthenware, particularly its Rockingham teapots and coffee pots, maiolica ware and everyday kitchen ware.
