Bird feeder, possibly made in Kirkcaldy
This bird feeder was produced around 1830, probably at Gallatown Pottery in Kirkcaldy in Fife. It is made of earthenware.
The bird feeder is inscribed 'Jacob' - probably the name of a pet bird.
The town of Kirkcaldy on the north shore of the Firth of Forth was one of the major centres of Scottish pottery production. In the second half of the 19th century it had four separate factories.
