Spearhead
Add to album

This bronze spearhead was found under moss and gravel in the Mount Bog at Castlecraig in Peeblesshire. It dates from between 1500 and 1150 BC.

The leaf-shaped spearhead has projecting loops on the long socket. Spearheads of this shape are fairly common in Scotland, though moulds are rare.

Warriors had a major social role in their society and displayed their status through fancy weapons.
