DishThis maiolica dish was made in the 1560s in Italy, possibly at the workshop of Domenago da Venezia in Venice or in Urbino. The dish is decorated in colours with a warrior and two maidens beside a statue, with a castle and sea behind. The underside is inscribed 'lidolo' [perhaps for 'the idol']. The dish may relate thematically to a series on the subject of love sometimes inscribed and described as 'the Triumph of Venus'. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
