This lead pilgrim's badge was found in Silvertown in London. It dates from the 14th century.

The badge features St Andrew and his cross.

Pilgrimage was important in medieval religious life. Churches associated with saints and their relics became centres of pilgrimage. Badges made from pewter or lead signified that the wearers has visited a place of pilgrimage.
