Pieces of ropeThese pieces of rope were found in a box at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. They provide rare evidence of the use of rope between 80 and 180 AD. Box containing four pieces of rope from Newstead Plant and animal fibres were used to produce a wide range of common products in addition to cloth, including nets, basketry, string and rope.
