RecordDipper and strainer setFrom Glenshee, Perthshire
Dipper and strainer setThis bronze dipper and strainer set, used with wine, was found at Glenshee in Perthshire. It was a valuable object obtained from the Romans, either as a diplomatic gift or as a result of trade sometime between 80 and 160 AD. The set is generally well preserved, although the bowls are imperfect. Although the Roman occupation did not result in the native population becoming Romanised, certain Roman habits such as drinking wine appear to have been adopted in some cases, in order to show off high status.
