Printing blocksThese two printing blocks for use on textiles were used by David Evans and Co. Ltd of Crayford in Kent. They date from between around 1860 and the 1930s. Each block has a paisley pattern. The blocks are made of solid wood. One has a cast type metal printing surface and is stamped 'F3432 / BLK'. The other is carved with brass strip inserts and is stamped 'F3432 / RED'. David Evans and Co. Ltd are silk dyers and printers and still demonstrate hand block printing at the visitor centre at Crayford. They occasionally demonstrate block-making and display a blockmakers' workshop.
