Reproduction lampThis reproduction bronze lamp with figure of Silenus was acquired from Pasquale Scognamiglio in 1871. The original was excavated at Pompeii and is now in the National Museum of Naples. Reproduction in bronze of a Roman lamp with figure of Silenus, from an original found at Pompeii Neapolitan foundries produced tens of thousands of copper alloy reproductions of items excavated at Pompeii and Herculaneum. Souvenirs were an integral part of the luxury goods industry in Italy in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
