This hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Revue de la Mode, a fashion magazine published in Paris. The plate illustrates fancy dress costumes for a man, woman and young girl. It is dated 12 January, 1879.

The plate is signed, 'A. Chaillot' - a well known and admired fashion plate artist of the time.

La Revue de la Mode first appeared in 1872. It was one of the more notable fashion magazines brought out in the last quarter of the 19th century and continued in publication until 1888.
