Rubbing of the Nestorian stele (detail)

This is a detail of the text inscribed on the Nestorian stele. The stele was erected in 781 under the reign of Emperor Dezong. It offers a good example of Chinese calligraphy in the Tang period.

This piece of calligraphic work was written in the regular script.
