This small yellow glass bead was found at Fetlar on Shetland. Glass beads were valuable objects, probably worn on necklaces, perhaps with beads of other materials. It may have reached Shetland from Moray as an aristocratic gift.

Flat discoidal yellow glass bead, from Fetlar, Shetland, 100 BC - 50 AD

The yellow beads form a distinct group of Iron Age beads, probably manufactured at the Culbin Sands, Moray area in the 1st century BC to around 50 AD.
