Add to albumThis lyre-shaped iron staircase panel was designed for the main staircase at Newton Don in Kelso in the Scottish Borders. It was made by the Edinburgh ironworks firm of Thomas Hadden and dates from the first half of the 20th century.
The panel is in a 'Regency' style.
Important commissions were vital for firms like Hadden's who opened for business in 1901 at Silvermills Lane in Edinburgh. Work would be ordered by architects and private customers.
