Practice chanter in a distinctive style, made in two parts in a 'flute' style, possibly intended as a pocket chanter.

The body of the finger-hole or lower section and the cap or upper section have been turned, unusually, in cylindrical section and the ivory mounts such as the chanter sole, are of uniform circumference.

The practice chanter is used by pipers for learning and practicing the music of the bagpipe. It has a narrow cylindrical bore and uses a double reed with long blades. It is softer toned and deeper pitched than the bagpipe chanter.
