RecordJug (2 of 2)probably made in Edinburgh
Jug (2 of 2)This glass jug was made in 1874, probably at Holyrood Flint Glass Works in Edinburgh by John Ford and Co. It is thought to have been engraved by J.H.B. Millar. The jug is wheel-engraved with the steamship 'Lord Clyde' surrounded by ferns. The ship is probably the iron steamer 'Lord Clyde' which was completed in August 1864 by Blackwood & Gordon of Port Glasgow and sold to the British India Steam Company in 1874 when it was renamed 'Malacca'. The jug was probably made and engraved to commemorate the retirement of the master, Captain Wyld, in 1874. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
