Swarf, from planing machine built in Johnstone, Renfrewshire

Swarf is the material removed by cutting or grinding tools in the machining of metals, stone or other substances. These two pieces of metal swarf were produced, probably in the 1980s, by a large planing machine built in 1937 by Loudon Brothers of Johnstone in Renfrewshire.
