The text around the edge reads, 'His Obsequies at Handsworth Staffordshire. Sepr. 2 1819'. James Watt (1736-1819) was buried at Handsworth Church in Warwickshire. He is commemorated by a statue in Westminster Abbey as the inventor who was responsible for making the Industrial Revolution possible.
