PendantThis brass pendant was found during excavations at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. Dating from between 80 and 100 AD, it was hung from a horse harness as decoration. It would have been suspended from a harness junction. The pendant is leaf-shaped with a knob at the bottom, and a suspension loop and two rivet holes at the top. Excavations at Newstead have revealed much about the layout and daily life in Roman camps in Scotland.
