This flint knife from Angus probably dates from between 2500 and 1500 BC.

The elongated oval knife, has a flat undersurface and a convex upper surface. Such knives are known as 'plano-convex' or 'slug' knives. The upper surface has had small flakes removed over its whole area.

'Slug' knives tend to be associated with Early and Middle Bronze Age burials, but earlier examples are also known. Such knives would have been usable for a variety of purposes.
