Measure
This pewter measure for an Imperial half gill dates from the first half of the 19th century. It is a Glasgow-type of measure, pear-shaped, with a domed lid. It has no maker's mark.
The measure has excise marks on the rim for Perth Town and County. On the top of the lid it is marked with a crown and 'Imperial 1826'.
Pewter was commonly used for measures and drinking vessels as it was both fairly cheap and strong enough to stand up to to the rigours of tavern life.
