Add to album

This is the reverse of a silver pattern three pence piece minted in Edinburgh in 1631, during the reign of Charles I.

The reverse has a thistle. The Latin inscription translates as: 'No one shall hurt me with impunity'.

This coin is an example of a pattern for a proposed issue of three pence Scots tokens in copper. No coins were ever struck for circulation.
