Medal (Obverse), commemorating Sir George Gilbert Scott
This is the obverse of an Art Union of London bronze medal commemorating Sir George Gilbert Scott, the architect who designed St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh. The medal dates from 1884.
The obverse has a bust of Scott and the inscription 'SIR G. GILBERT SCOTT R.A./1811-1878'.
Built in the 1870s, St Mary's Cathedral is the greatest landmark of Edinburgh's West End.
