Fragment of a crosierA crosier is a bishop's or abbot's crook. This fragment of the head of a cast bronze crosier is said to have been found in the ruins of a church at Hoddam near Ecclefechan in Dumfriesshire. It dates from the 11th century. The fragment is decorated with dragonesque ornamentation. Hoddom was an important early Christian monastic site, associated with St Mungo and St Kentigern.
