Mustard spoon (back), associated with MacLeods of Geanies, Ross-shireThis is the front of a silver mustard spoon associated with the MacLeods of Geanies in Ross-shire. Dated 1817, the spoon is part of a service assembled by several generations of the family. The spoon was made in Calcutta by Hamilton and Co, using a king's pattern design by Morton of Edinburgh. The back is stamped with the maker's initials, 'A/H&Co.' Scotland not only provided India with soldiers and colonial administrators. With restricted opportunities at home, aspiring craftsmen found it necessary to expand their horizons. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
