This hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Mode Illustreé, a fashion magazine published in Paris. Dating from March, 1898, the plate illustrates a day dress and an evening dress.

The outfits are from, 'Mmes GRADOZ-ANGENAULT, rue de Provence, 67'.

La Mode Illustreé first appeared in 1860 and was one of the most important fashion magazines of the second half of the nineteenth century. It was published every Sunday and had a circulation of approximately 20,000.
