This pencil sketch of clematis, probably for an embroidery design, was possibly made by Sir Robert Lorimer (1864-1929), one of Scotland's foremost architects.

Pencil designs for a bedspread, reputedly by Sir Robert Lorimer, late 19th or early 20th century

Sir Lorimer was inspired by traditional Scottish buildings and by the natural world. His commissions included interiors and furnishings as well as buildings.
