Jacket and waistcoat, of Strathspey VolunteersThis jacket and waistcoat of a private soldier dates from around 1795. Although the jacket and waistcoat bear the buttons of the Strathspey Volunteers, they were probably first made either for the 97th (Inverness-shire) Regiment or the Strathspey Fencibles. Strathspey Volunteer Battalion - Private's jacket and waistcoat, c. 1798 Soldiers' waistcoats were generally made from the remnants of other items of uniform.
