These two circular pewter plates were made in the early 19th century by Robert Kinniburgh, a prolific pewterer based in Edinburgh.

Each plate has a plain rim and is engraved 'LAURISTON CASTLE'. Lauriston Castle, at Cramond in Edinburgh, was built 1827, next to the ruin of its late-16th-century predecessor. It is now a museum.

Robert Kinniburgh was made a freeman of the Incorporation of Hammermen of Edinburgh in 1794. He became a burgess in 1796.
