Fashion plate, from La Mode IllustreéThis hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Mode Illustreé, a fashion magazine published in Paris. Dating from 1894, the plate illustrates two day dresses. It is signed, 'I. Desgrange'. The bodices and skirts of both dresses are elaborately trimmed with lace and frills. The lady on the left is carrying a feathered fan. Isabelle Desgrange (née Toudouze) was the daughter of Adèle Anaïs Toudouze, one of the most prolific and popular fashion plate artists of the mid-nineteenth century.
