Jar and dish, by Archie McCall

This stoneware lidded jar and dish were made by the Scottish artist Archie McCall in 1984. It formed part of the Scottish Crafts Collection, which was transferred to the National Museums of Scotland when the Scottish Craft Council was wound up.

The jar has three feet and a curled handle. The dish is indented with a flat base. Both are decorated with abstract landscape motifs.

Archie McCall is Head of Ceramics at Glasgow School of Art. He produces individual stoneware pots, many of them inspired by the landscape of the southwest. He has travelled widely, given lectures in many places.
