This is the front of a one pound banknote, issued by the Commercial Bank of Scotland on 2 January 1923.

The front bears the printed signature of the accountant, L M Mackay and the cashier, H M Roberts.

Established in 1810, the Commercial Bank of Scotland became one of the largest banks in Scotland. It amalgamated with the National Bank of Scotland in 1959 to form the National Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited.
