Coin die (Obverse), for Queen Anne half-groatThis coin die for striking the obverse of a Queen Anne half-groat was for use at the Edinburgh mint. Dating from 1711, the die was never actually used to strike a coin issued in Scotland. The Latin inscription around the edge translates as, 'Anne, by the grace of God'. There are no surviving contemporary half-groats struck from this die. However, there are some half-groats which were made many years later.
