Silver medal (reverse) of Orange Lodge No. 1657This is the reverse of a silver medal of Orange Lodge No. 1657, presented to John Cranston in 1848 for admission into the Orange Order. The inscription in the centre reads 'Installn 17th Sept 1834 L.1657 John Cranston Admission 5 Jun 1848'. An entrant into the Orange Order was required to swear support and defence of the monarchy and Protestanism.
