RecordFragment of a glass bottle< 1 of 1 > Back From Traprain Law, East Lothian
Fragment of a glass bottleThis fragment of a glass bottle was found at the native hillfort settlement of Traprain Law in East Lothian. It is a quality Roman object, one of a number found there, acquired by gift or trade sometime between 80 and 200 AD. Half of the mouth of the green glass bottle with a broad flat rim survives. Glass bottles were widely used by the Romans for a number of purposes. They were hand blown, sometimes into a mould, and occasionally have the maker's name on the base. Some glass bottles may also have been imported for their contents. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
