RecordPebble< 1 of 1 > Back From Monquhitter, Aberdeenshire
PebbleThis agate pebble is one of 31 pebbles found at Monquhitter in Aberdeenshire in a hoard containing over 63 objects, buried in a cairn sometime between 100 and 300 AD. They were probably used as amulets. The pebble is natural, and worn smooth. The objects in the Monquhitter hoard were clearly carefully selected. Perhaps they were an offering to the spirits of the cairn, or perhaps merely buried there for safekeeping by someone who collected or dealt in charms.
