Wemyss ware teapotThis Wemyss ware teapot was made between around 1883 and 1930 at Robert Heron & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife. It was part of a breakfast set that also comprised a tray, cup and saucer, sugar bowl and milk jug. The teapot is hand-painted with a black cockerel on either side and the word 'Bonjour'. In the 19th century, potteries grew in number to meet the increased demand. The largest firms were near the Forth and Clyde rivers and Kirkcaldy became a major centre for potteries.
