Medal (Reverse), commemorating the death of James WattThis is the reverse of a silver medal commemorating the death of James Watt in 1819. The reverse is inscribed in the centre with a shield. The text around the edge reads, 'His Obsequies at Handsworth Staffordshire. Sepr. 2 1819'. James Watt (1736-1819) was buried at Handsworth Church in Warwickshire. He is commemorated by a statue in Westminster Abbey as the inventor who was responsible for making the Industrial Revolution possible.
