Grave slab (cast)

This is a fibreglass cast of a stone grave slab from Finlaggan on Islay in Argyll. The slab dates from between the 14th and early 16th century.

The slab has a triple roll-moulding round the margin. No other decoration is now visible.

Carved stone graveslabs illustrate the Celtic or Gaelic tradition in Scotland. They are found throughout the West Highlands and were commissioned as memorials to important or influential people.
